I don't know about you, but I have for sure found that God answers my prayers through people most of the time. The clinic Vibrant Life is no exception. Sally and Michelle were suggested to me by a friend of mine and In the past 6 months they have changed my life.

I am not naturally inclined to take risks. My body and spirit deplete significantly.

But I know that what is on the other side of the risk, is the greater reward.

Leaning into the hard has been an intentional practice for me this year.

And it was, for sure, tested this week when I needed to get back into my driver's seat after I was hit last week. 🚗

But I know what I want to do and where I want to go requires that risk.

So I gather my courage and lean in.

Do it again.

Try again.

Get another rep.

Do one more.

Gather courage and stand strong.

Place one more stone on your build.

Get one more red mark.

Having clarity means that you have decided beforeh

Having clarity means that you have decided beforehand the type of person you want to be in any situation and knowing the things you need to develop to get there.

Every year I have a power word or two that I focus on to help me be a better leader and an overall better person.

In 2024 I had two.

The Gain - this term comes from the book, The Gap and the gain. I absolutely love this book and I feel like it has changed my outlook as an entrepreneur and business owner. When I focus on the progress that I have made, my world is such a better place and how I treat people becomes high quality.

Speak - after some significant life changes in 2023, I needed to find my voice again. Not only did my career change but I landed in a career that is 90 to 95% male and men in a "harder" profession.... Mining and construction. I needed a reminder to be bold and courageous and use my voice for good.

There were many times in 2024 that my bracelet, which I didn't take off except for the pageant last year, served as a visual reminder of the type of person that I wanted to become and practice. It stopped me multiple times from living small and helped me embrace living big. Taking up space. Having an opinion. It also had a second meaning to converse with God daily.

Do you have a word this year? Or have visual cues to remind you of who you are and want to become?

My new 2025 bracelet is something I can get behind. Again, a word for the type of person that I want to become. I know I will because I have it set before me using the pillar of clarity from beautiful in a visual cue.

When we get clear on where we are and where we want to go, life becomes so much easier as we act with direction and course.

I've only had an official celiac disease diagnosis since September 2023, but signs show I've had it my whole life.

It takes a certain amount of self leadership to navigate a high change. And believe me, we're still working on it.

Even this week I was contaminated by toast crumbs or pancake batter on a washcloth from family in my own kitchen. In bed all day yesterday because of something so small. Healing takes up to six weeks for my GI system to not hurt again and my energy to come back if I'm perfect again (which is just so dang hard).

But it is part of that dance I talked about earlier this week. And when diagnosed I knew I had a choice to be a victim and bring drama or be an example and educate and navigate with grace. Bitter or better like my last reel.

I've learned so much and hope this helps someone feel seen or another to understand more from these insights.

Do I want to be Bitter or Better?

I remember the morning after my mom told the family she had breast cancer. I was pounding the treadmill and I'd find myself sprinting to run the pain off and then just stomping with full anger.
It was probably one of the hardest mornings of my life.
But after some time and my initial anger wore out (not off), I distinctly heard the prompt...

You have a choice. You can let it make you bitter or better.

That shifted everything and I view that era of struggle with peace and a sacredness unlike any other.

Because I want to be better. And I bet you would answer the same too.

I continue to ask myself this on the daily. And it works!!!

It helps me remember who I want to be and act accordingly. It keeps my Pilar of clarity in tact AND reminds me of my foundational values.

I will be forever grateful for that raw teaching moment that shifted the trajectory of my life.

Why would you jump in and abandon ship? It seems Ludacris with a visual like that, but so often we do this in our challenges of life.

Avoid. Throw in the towel. Give up. Turn out back. Say, It's not for me.

Believe me, I have experienced some hefty waves in the past four years. Runner up in my pageant three times and heading in for a fourth try is a small example of what waves I'm navigating.

I question WHY a lot. Why am I going in again? Why out myself in such a vulnerable position? Why dedicate so many of my previous hours to this?

It has required so much healing, inner work, and complete commitment to go through another pageant season and it is waves incoming daily.

But I tell you, I am a master of my ship. I have not stopped and I will make it through to the beautiful vistas I know are beyond my storm.

I want to be the person that shows you, even though I've "struck out" in the past, I may be just one swing away from a major home run. The more I get experience, the better i will be. I'll know and appreciate what I'm capable of and my capacity to impact and connect with others will be on a completely different level.

Keep going. Use those muscles. Use your support system. Do the work. Hoist the sails.

Don't abandon the ship. ⛵
